Update on Andesine-Labradorite
Note: You can read the latest andesine-labradorite news in our andesine updates.
January 31, 2008
As you may already know, JTV wants to open the world of jewelry and gemstones to everyone. We want to bring our customers the best up-to-date information available. As you may already know, we are on the cusp of announcing information regarding andesine-labradorite that no one in the gem world has been able to discover! As expected, our pending announcement has created a lot of interest, not only by our customers, but by experts. We have worked with these experts and scientists over the past 6 years and they are anxiously awaiting our news as well! So be patient and stay tuned; over the next few days we will start our announcement.
What we did not expect, though, was the overwhelming demand for our supply of andesine-labradorite. Over the past few days, our inventory has been reduced to a fraction of its original level, causing us to fear a complete sell out of our entire inventory! And we have not even made our announcement yet. We have experienced sell-out after sell-out of every size, shape and price in every color of labradorite-andesine, not only in gemstones, but jewelry as well.
We fully expect to sell out of our inventory. We want to continue to meet the demand so we challenged our buyers to find more andesine-labradorite. Putting all other projects aside, they contacted everyone they knew world-wide to find more of these beautiful gems. Late yesterday, they located a limited supply.
They uncovered a few suppliers willing to negotiate a sale. Our buyers are now flying across the globe to negotiate this purchase. We hope they will be successful. If so, we will have more material to bring you at some time in the near future. If not, we will sell out of our inventory.
Stay tuned as JTV brings you up to date information about this gem as well as updates regarding our inventory.
If you enjoy the color of this beautiful gem, don’t wait for another opportunity to come to you. You decide. This opportunity may not come again though we will aggressively negotiate with suppliers to bring this gem to you. But if you have ever considered purchasing andesine-labradorite, why wait?
Experience the beauty of andesine-labradorite today. JTV is inviting you to purchase your favorite color, or why not own one in every shade?
Once you try us, you’ll want to stay with us. Get to know JTV; you’ll be glad you did. We are just a phone call away, and so is your andesine-labradorite!
Shop red andesine-labradorite. Shop green andesine-labradorite.

Our Group JTV Junkies Consumers seeking answers website site was created in response to the way JTV has conducted business with us (their faithful customers) the past few weeks. We were told that we were buying untreated Andesine-Labradorite gem stones for several years. On or about Dec 31 ..they started telling us how valuable and rare these stones were and many of us noticed the prices going up on them. On or about Jan. 30-31 Scott while acting all excited like a child at Christmas time told us that they had a big secret. They could not reveal it until after the Tucson gem show. He then continued to tell us how we needed to buy the stones, all that we could afford to buy. (Just get them!) We were going to be pleasantly surprised. He actually created a buying frenzy . We feel that it’s quite possible that they knew this stone was treated all along though they claim to have no knowledge of that. They also claim that they sent the material out to 9 different labs and it went undetected by all 9 labs. The truth comes out..(Jack found the mind)..Jack also found out the that stone is heated (enhanced). But fact is that we believe that they sat on this information for 2 extra weeks while still selling the Andesine-Labradorite as an untreated stone, (Failure to disclose) as it was also still listed on their site as of this past Saturday night of which I have screen shots of.
We have ask JTV to show us the lab reports and be honest and answer our questions and as of today, Monday the 11 th of Feb. the main questions are still unanswered. Many have already filed claims with the Federal trade commission, and other’s are talking about calling 20/20 and Prime time and news shows to get to the bottom of what has happened. I have ask my group to wait until we have answers that we are happy with and so far we aren't happy. Time is getting short and so are peoples patients. It’s my prayer that JTV will do all that they can to satisfy their faithful costumers and restore their faith in them. It is not my goal to cause JTV damage. Please help us regain our trust and faith in you.

JTV & ANDESINE RETURNS~IT’S BEEN BROUGHT TO OUR ATTENTION THAT JTV HAS ALLOWED RETURNS ON ANDESINE-LAB STONES AND JEWERLY FOR PEOPLE POSTING ON THEIR BLOG AND AWARE OF THE FAILURE TO DISCLOSE LAWS THEY SEEM TO HAVE BROKEN REGARDING THIS STONE AND THE TWO WEEKS THAT WE ARE SURE OF THAT THEY SOLD IT AS NATURAL-(NO TREATMENT) WHILE KNOWING IT WAS TREATED. THE DEADLINE FOR RETURNS WAS MARCH 31, 2008. RETURNS WERE NOT OFFERED TO THE VIEWING PUBLIC THAT HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF THIS REFUND. NO WAY DO WE AGREE WITH THE WAY THE RETURNS WERE OFFERED. THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN OFFERED TO ALL WHO HAD PURCHASED THIS STONE. NOT JUST THE ONES HERE WHO SAW WHAT WAS GOING ON IN THE BUSINESS. WE SENT A LETTER TO JTV ASKING THEM TO EXTEND THAT DATE UNTIL ALL INFORMATION WAS IN ON THE TREATMENT OF THE STONE & UNTIL ALL OF THIER LISTENING AND VIEWING AUDIENCE HAD A CHANCE TO BOTH LEARN OF THE RETURNS AND DO THEIR OWN.
This week (The week of April 1st 2008) we are sending the Petition to JTV requesting the answers to the questions that we’ve posted below. Next week we’ll be writing letter’s to the FTC, and next week some place else and so on. Until we have our answers and responses. This Journey has just begun.

This is bull crap. They must think that we are really stupid. I am up to my neck with this dramafied mess with jewelery television...They must think that they can get away with ripping people off...well guess what My daughter in law is in college taking criminal justice and we know the laws and also our rights....promises are promises and if you have it in writing they are really up a creek with out a paddle. We have everything in writing with invoices I am hiring an attorney and following the law to prosecute to the fullest extent the law allows they will fry in hell for what they are doing to people...this is so unfair...but rest assured I will make sure that justice is served on these lying cheating people. I will not be scammed or promised things that can and are never delivered. Bottom line is do not make promises that you cannot keep or follow through with. I don't need to wait for a class action suit...I am filing my own suit....and they will see who will have the last laugh.....ha ha ha....the joke will be on them.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that jewelry television is a crock they are selling this stuff telling people that it is worth so much money and it is not. People some of which are on fixed incomes, believe the lies and have gone in the hole buying something that is worthless and they will never be able to get what they are saying it is worth....folks the good old golden rule is "if it sounds too good to be true listen to your instincts because it more than likely is".

Just a side note to Yvonne's excellent post- there are 82 members in this group- that WERE BUYERS of JTV-some for MANY years. And they have spent a LOT of money at JTV- I am a former buyer - and I will not buy from JTV. JTV has a hard time deciding what is true and what is not.In the meantime- they allow the buyers to suffer.

hi all
I just came back to see that part 3 Q/A is now up
Posted by: dreamcatcher3 | February 29, 2008 at 07:50 PM
They're NOW referring to the GREEN as LABRADORITE!!
HMMMMMMMMM! What other surprises do they have up their sleeve? I still want to know how they heat these stones. Is this diffusion heated? Beryllium heated? Irradiated? Gentle heat, (such as tanzanite, paraiba tourmaline)?
JTV is deceiving all of US. The fact remains...when JTV announced that they have info. that they would reveal...(which they knew long before they told us about the announcement) They pushed this stone as next paraiba tourmaline, and failed to disclose TREATMENTS, starting, January 29th at a minimum.
FACT!! HEY- JERRY SISK come clean, give us the info…or maybe YOU figure bad news should be delivered a little bit at a time????????

I think it's 8pm EST, not 4:30? That's what they said yesterday anyway.

4:30 p.m. EST today! Someone please help! I won't be able to be near a television. Would someone please re cap what Dawn has to say? I would appreciate it very much.
Thanks, Tucson Pam
Posted by: Tucson Pam | February 09, 2008 at 11:41 AM
I agree we should switch, same on my end with the hanging up and or taking forever to to load. A Whimpy pucker but hey it is getting thru! If you'se decide to change let us know as Im sure it will be even harder to get on if Dawny lets us know tonight. I agree with the weather re-routing packages. I ordered 1 1/2 weeks ago and then last week, both came the same day. Michigans Snow storms made it difficult for getting them here in a timely manner! But who know's maybe something there!!
Posted by: Diane | February 09, 2008 at 08:31 AM
I'll have to let all know when I receive my package. I've emailed customer service at JTV about it and they have not replied. As of 11:10 P.M. Friday, the tracking still says Portland, Oregon. How weird!
Posted by: Donna | February 09, 2008 at 12:12 AM
Hey Donna: FYI your package prob. got caught in the crazy weather re-routes. There has been sunstone and labradorite from Oregon for ages - guess we will all find out soon.
Hey Ann: FYI - there have been two diff. catagories for quite some time and when you see a higher price with a complete photo background - not just white - that is a VAULT piece not the regular inventory. Look somemore there are still some old pieces with min. and size. I shouldn't give away a secret but the stones that end in a 7A or 7B are the really NICE RED stones.
HEY YA Yvonne!!!!
I keep checking at the chat - but have been in and out of the house and have not caught anyone in yet. Ya Know my spelling suffers quite often - but really - that guy/gal? had some nerve pandering on JTV's blog. Have you noticed that this blog page is slow to load and hangs up now and then??? Should we switch to another that has (no or Few) comments on it???? Any Thoughts? See Ya - Bye

Hello! I ordered a 4.50 carat red labradorite ring(DBC051) from JTV this week. I always track my orders from JTV and this one appeared to be normal, left Knoxville, TN on 2/6, and today 2/8, USPS tracking shows this item is leaving Portland, Oregon! What in the world??? So I googled andesine oregon and labradorite oregon. I found several references to a mine in Plush,Oregon. Then I googled "Plush, Oregon." Hummm, could they be shipping the ring straight from the source? Why would my red labradorite ring be in Oregon?? I've bought hundreds of items from JTV and they never lost an item so maybe the source is PLUSH, OREGON!
Posted by: Donna | February 08, 2008 at 07:07 PM
I have noticed recently that JTV has 2 separate "shop by gemstone" catagories for Andesine and Labradorite. Andesine Labradorite which features the Red and Green colors and selling for $160 to $180 per ct. now and no longer a minimum mm size. The Labradorite catagory is the Yellow. I suggest you all look at the new pics., descriptions and prices to see if you agree with what I have observed. I have collected several Red and Green Andesine/Lab. that are clean and gemmy! A few yellow that are nice, too. I did not start collecting gemstones for investment purposes. However, if I were to have a favorable appraisel done, it would not disappoint me! In my opinion, the "big" news will be new mine locations, availability and higher price per carot. If the new finds are the Congo, lets hope that our gemstones and future gemstones are "conflict free". I have enjoyed reading everyone's take on what JTV will reveal. Continue your passion of gemstone collecting as I will.

So far I have 5 people interested in the chat room and it's open. If you have AOL just type this into your browser and the room will come up. For anyone that wants to be part of this group email me and I'll put you all in touch with each other via mail and buddylist.
I don't have the time to be in the room all the time.. so what I am thinking, is if anyone wants to meet to chat it's open. Also, perhaps we could start with weekends for sure. I can be there Sat & Sun evenings around 9-12 Cental time. That's 8 Eastern. We can do like a weekend thing for sure. If I'm late this Saturday please be patient, I'll be there after Husbands Birthday dinner.
Have a great day all,

Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to address an issue that I saw in a few posts. There is alot of Andesine/Labradorite on ebay currently and alot of it is very mediocre. Some of it is extraordinary. I have bought from most of the vendors and have found who to keep and who to drop like a hot potato. I have a jewelry shop and we have very large Andesine Labradorite reserves that are available for sale. If anyone wants to skip the ebay drama and contact me for stones to purchase we have half caret thru 8 thru 22 caret red and multi shades and even a couple 30 caret stones in an array of colors. Red and Yellow in larger quantities than green but that will change soon. Prices are reasonable and we will try to sell around where JTV was selling if possible. We have even recently been able to get parcels of red rounds and green color shift recently just in smaller caret sizes. Just an offer to share the wealth with my JTV family. If you have an interest just email me (rykion at sbcglobal.net)and I can let you know if we can fill your need.

I'm with you Lili. I just have a sneaky feeling that the mine/mines are not where everyone thinks they are. After looking at the pictures on TV, I wonder if it's not South America? Since Andesine was discovered in the Andes, maybe they found more. Either way, it's fun to speculate.
Posted by: Mary - Rowlett, TX | February 07, 2008 at 05:14 PM
Hey There Mary:
In reference to location of the mine - no clue - but I hope it IS NOT in china!!!! I have just about had it with china ===== lead - dog/cat food - people food - toothpaste ---- Good Grief!!! How many times can they send poison before we stop letting them????

Hey Yvonne!!!
As we say at our house "Happy DirtDay" to your Hubbie!!! The DirtDay part is because the birthday person does not have to do any Dirt Work - Chores or anything other than just enjoy their day.
AnyWhooo - have not heard any RELEVANT info. regarding AndeLab.
Having issues navigating Facebook GemFairy-my stupid bone is in full swing - directly related to stress - so will pass and I'll get the hang of it.
Yvonne: I think I found your chat but no one was in there - so could have been in error - but I did get AOL to function fairly well.
Everybody Else - Hang Tuff - They will have to tell us sooner or later what the big WhoHA is all about. I for one am registering my discontent with my wallet right now. IT IS CLOSED!!! since free shipping day!

They showed pictures of Jewel Hunter Jack at the mine site. I tried to figure out the ethnicity of the people in the picture with him. Could they be from Tibet, Mexico or a South American country? Anybody else have any thoughts on this?
Posted by: Mary - Rowlett, TX | February 07, 2008 at 03:27 PM
I read on another website another mine has been found in India plus another color Pink. But I don't think that is JTV's big news because that wouldn't effect JTV's customers that have already bought Red, Green and Yellow Lab. Plus that news is already out.

Tommy Browns Gemstone 1:50 said news will be announced SAT regarding location and color!

Cathy- I SO agree with you about the hosts talking about gold prices and the value there of, any item they are selling at the time. It irks me too-that JTV says it tries to educate, yet they prey on the ignorance of the mass public. It is like the price of a barrel of oil.....filter that cost down and it all works out the same. Anyways...it's all fine and wonderful JTV wants so badly to educate-but either they must choose to do it in broad strokes and leave it at that, or be specific. Robert, is the ONLY host that tries to remind people it is raw gold pricing.

Got it. I guess I was reading with my own experiences in mind. I had a 1 ct tanzanite appraised a year ago and it appraised for about what it was selling for on JTV inspite of some of the luck from the emails that some folks send that the show hosts read aloud. I would love to know what those folks know or who they know that I could sell a couple of mine for those high prices:). My only other appraisal on the sapphire surprised me, but then again I was even surprised it was a sapphire being the cynical person I am and not having more definative tools at the time. I purchase specific gems because I like them and parcels because I am curious. Hopefully my appreciation for rocks and gems will rub off on someone in my family. On the other hand, occasionally it doesn't hurt to dream of one day having just one of significant value to add to my retirement fund. I also purchase lottery tickets every now and then when I am in the mood:) I would prefer if gold prices would go back down. I still have a few more stones I want to have set and what I am thinking of in my mind doesn't match any of JTVs semimounts or castings. I have no desire to pay current gold prices.

Hi all,
Has anyone heard any new, news on the Andesine/Labradorite today. I just checked the prices on ebay and they seem to have cooled off?
Looks like some of them are about .50 per carat?
Is there something that they, know that we don't yet?
Did I miss something?
Posted by: cathy | February 06, 2008 at 07:46 PM
Again I had mine appraised for insurance purposes only and insurance companies can still argue the point on any cost replacement( that has been proven over and over again ) but that was not my point. Point being I paid for an appraisal on a material that is in question and I got what I paid for that was the important thing to me. Again Thanks for your time
Posted by: Sherry | February 06, 2008 at 07:46 PM
Just keep in mind that an appraisal is usually what it would cost you to replace it which means purchasing at standard retail price not on sale. Considering that stores have sales and clearance discount from 50% to 75%, unless you are savvy at selling or in a location that demands what you have, what you can sell your stone for vs what it appraised for can be vastly different.
Posted by: Catherine | February 06, 2008 at 07:27 PM
I have bought alot of Labradorite. I have had 2 appraised for insurance purposes by a GIA ( he is very conservative and says so and I faxed this appraisal to JTV ) The 2 pieces one was a yellow Labradorite oval ( it ended up being 11.61 carats ) min 10 carat the other one Red Labradorite min 1.00 carat was 1.11 and the price I paid for these 2 were cheap compared to the insured appraisal. First an insured appraisal is the Gia opinion vs an insurance co, also there is a value appraisal done by a certified gem person that does colored gems. JTV gave me the name of their appraiser Mary Beth in NJ and her phone number. I really did not want to get involved in this forum, but I suggest calling JTV and asking for this appraisers number. I am very happy with what I have in my safe and yes I have alot like over 100 carats and plan on keeping it. Investing is like beauty in the eye of the beholder, example if you went out right now and bought a GT Mustang 2008 do you think that you are going to make money as an investment in 2008 ? Just an example .. Take care psst some places charge ALOT for appraisals so bear that in mind..

I have a friend who has the free AOL (not the AIM) and she can get to the chat rooms that I've created. We just tried it. Some people who have Windows Vista have problems with AOL, but most of us with AOL are great. It could be the security in your computer won't allow you access. If any more of you make it let me know.
It's all good. :)
Friends please try not to stress so much about the information coming. We'll all hear it. Also, there are places on the JTV website where you purchase your stones and jewelry if you look that explain color treatment and stone hardness etc. I'll try and get some screen shots up to show you where to find the info on the JTV site. If your unsure of anything just type it into your browser and pull it up and research it. Also there are some great Gemstone books out there. Google is cool. I haven't had time to research the facebook website yet. I will later. Have a great day to all.
PS. If you got into a big rush and bought up things you couldn't afford remember you do have 30 days to return if you don't like the out come.

This has irked me in the past and I need to vent:
I have heard the JTV hosts, show a 10kt piece of gold jewelry and exclaim gold is at Ex: $900.00 today and this is 3grams of gold there's $300.00 worth of gold in this piece.
Let's do the math:
24kt gold@ $900.00 per ounce = 28.35 grams in 1 ounce. 10kt gold is approx 42% pure gold $900. per ounce x 42% = $378.00 per ounce divided by 28.35grams = $13.33 per gram. x the gram wgt. of 3 grams = $39.99 that is the pieces gold value. The other 58% is alloy metal.
Where do they get their $300.00 worth of gold? Hmmm

Hi Educated consumer,
I hear you loud and clear!
But you do have to admit that the gemmy cherry red and green is beautiful. Hope it's all NATURAL as has been drilled into our heads by JTV.
Posted by: cathy | February 06, 2008 at 03:27 PM
Educated Consumer,
What? There is still andesine-labradorite listed where it always was. Other than that, I have no idea what you're on about...
Posted by: anita | February 06, 2008 at 03:25 PM
Well here we are. Where are all the big mouths about the what is it? $2000ct? andesine NATUAL IN COLOR, NOT TREATED. The FCC will have a field day w/this network. Gee. No red andesine - scratch that labrodrite on any pages. I think they have gotten themselves caught in something they don't know HOW TO TELL THE CUSTOMERS. Since they owned 80% of the world's TOP andesine, sorry, labradorite, HOW CAN ANYONE AT TUCSON HAVE ANY? LOL, LOL. This taught me a great lesson. IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT PROBABLY IS. NO ONE SELLS ANY JEWELRY THAT THEY SAY IS GOING FOR $1,000'S OUTSIDE OF JTV AND THEY SELL IT FOR $39.00. I HOPE NO ONE IS GOING TO THE "jtv FRIENDS PAGE" THEY'RE HAWKING FLOWERS, YOU HEAR ME, FLOWERS ON THIS SITE. LOL, LOL.
Posted by: Educated Consumer | February 06, 2008 at 02:58 PM
Comparision Tanzanite hardness is 6 1/2 on MOHS scale Andesine is 6 to 6 1/2.
Posted by: arthur | February 06, 2008 at 02:49 PM
Good advise thankyou Your right I knew they were soft stones still have no idea the hardness as I've either not heard or they dont' say? I know I've heard they are as soft as Tanzie's. Which is 6? Not for sure, I own them but dont' wear them much. I have to say that for years I only bought diamonds. Only in the last 6yrs or so have I purchased colored gemstone jewelry and some loose. I've never wore the same ring for more than a day or two and switch so never really cared about how hard/soft ect. I do NOW with the Labs thats for sure as I can't imagine doing anything to hurt them bad girls! I'm very hard on rings infact totally disrespectfull to them I've always thought if it doesn't make it thru my world it wasn't meant to be but oh how I've changed my thought process! Like I've said before if it wasnt' for JTV I wouldn't have the pc's I do have, but if the stones go away they won't be replaceable! A new found respect for all my pc's!!

I have to go through a Broadband to Aol and everytime I have tried to have AOL loaded - not just the public access - it had thrown my Windows Xp in to a NonFunctional Status (Might have something to do with Hubbie Backdooring my computer)anywhooo. Will store up my ability to deal with Techno-Misery until I can try it again. It is funny before all the stess - I was pretty Tech Savy. Not anymore.
GemFairy
Finally made it to FaceBook - Do they have anything other than POSTS - Like Chat Rooms? Thats what I was looking forward to on AOL if I could get it to work.
ALSO:
I am pretty patient as a rule - but am not a happy camper about being strung along day after day. If they were not going to have the info, until the end of the week ---- They should have said exactly that. I for one have not and will not purchase anything under stress tactics. This in my opinion - IS NOT - how you treat FAMILY - and IT WAS NOT necessary - makes me wonder what on earth are they thinking - how is this for our benefit????

Hi Catherine, (are you alias Cathy?)
I do agree, Uncle Sam wants a portion of everything,
minus expenses, safty deposit boxes appraisals, home safe, phone calls, posting listings etc. (I think you get the idea) On the second issue, I feel if I was willing to pay $1.00 someone else will also.
Posted by: cathy | February 06, 2008 at 02:10 PM
Thanks, I've been listening to everyone saying it should be this week we should all know, I've heard Dawn many times saying she gets to give the new's her next scheduled Gemstone Show is Friday afternoon around 4:00 maybe all the tidbit info is coming from each of the other hosts and she gets to do the Grand Info. She's also scheduled for Saturday show too but I would think they'd like to bask in the info for the whole weekend and all the weekend veiwers? just a thought!!
Posted by: Diane | February 06, 2008 at 02:02 PM
Diane please don't remove your stones from mountings. They can be appraised w/o doing so and they are soft. You risk breaking them. There's only one insurance company that covers that. Jewelers Mutual. The stores won't cover your loss. Unless you really love a gem and need to set it to wear it don't. If you buy stones for Jewelry set them, if buy them for resale don't. I took my red and green labs in to have set into pieces and the store didn't know what they were. Neither did the person who set them for me. He had to ask me find out the hardness so he wouldn't break it. Theses stones are very soft. Not good at all for rings. If you set them you risk breaking but a good jeweler can do it. I believe the soft stones are best set in pendants. Especially if you bang your hands around a lot and drop things.
I do have a friend who appraises but she's hard to run down she does it for all the stores here in town. In a few weeks when it warms up I'll see what I can find out from her about the stones and share that you with.
GemFairy thank you for sharing with us about Facebook. I'm sure we'll enjoy it.
For those trying to get to the chat room on AOL we're working on it. I'm pretty sure you need AOL to access the room. If it doesn't work Private I can change it to public. But I have AOL I sign onto my page and click on the link it's in my favorites and go right to it. Let me know if we need to change it to public. It will stay nicer if we can keep it private.
I agree with Gemfairy it is great of JTV to allow us this forum to post.
Posted by: Yvonne | February 06, 2008 at 02:01 PM
I would really think hard about having the stones removed from mountings. They are fairly soft, and with most jewelers you have to sign something saying that they are not responsible for any damage to the stone. They should be able to appraise the ring (or whatever) without removing the stone.
Posted by: anita | February 06, 2008 at 01:26 PM
Thank you for the info, will have to decide If I want them to pop my stones from the semimounts first on the rings I've purchased (personal collection)the others I will see if the "grouping cost will benefit" as Im sure If all the news makes the stone more valuable than just the rarity of it, It will pay off to have them appraised
Posted by: Diane | February 06, 2008 at 01:16 PM
I had two appraisals done. This is from memory since I am not at home, but the sapphire one stated it does all appraisals on the assumption that the stone was treated using standard treatment methods unless proof can be provided that the stone was not treated.
Posted by: Catherine | February 06, 2008 at 01:00 PM
From what I understand it's not always easy to determine if a stone has been treated without special testing and equipment. I would think most appraisers would look at the type of stone it is and assume (based on that) whether it was or not - for instance, tanzanite and emeralds are nearly always treated, etc. Since this stone is mostly unknown, I would not think an appraisal would tell you anything as far as treatments. You can get a stone appraised anytime though, not just through JTV. Look in your yellow pages under gemstones or jewelry and most will say whether they do appraisals, and may give you a deal. The appraisers from my area are generally around the same price as JTV, although the one I use gives me discounts for groupings.
Posted by: anita | February 06, 2008 at 12:36 PM
Value is perception not always reality! We all bought on perception some reality correct? Well if we did don't ya think someone will be interested in perception and hopefully reality when we sell? And no matter how ya look at it, IT's attitude, sales tactic's, we've learned from the best!! Now its not gravel and its not kitty litter! I do have a question to all, I was really stupid when I made all of my purchase's, how many times did they tell me Have it appraised oh no not me I'd look at their 50.00 cost and say dah I can buy another small stone for that and then did! Humm Now I wish I had, my question is has anyone else had them appraised because on your appraisal it should say if they are natural or treated they would know!! Let me know!
Posted by: Diane | February 06, 2008 at 10:42 AM
For the question on inflation and value, your money earned money you keep, so Uncle Sam wants a portion of it. Your stone may have a value of $1.04, but you only make that money if you are able to sell it for that. Though it would be difficult for Uncle Sam to make the case, Uncle Sam also wants its share of whatever money you would make when you sell that gemstone minus its original cost and whatever additional costs you incurred in trying to sell it. IE, you are taxed on income no matter where it comes from.

I DID NOT POST THIS!!!
I would like to make my announcement since JTV isn't quite ready to make their's yet.
I couldn't be happier that I purchased my modest amount of Green and Red Andesine and Yellow Labradorite before the prices went up.
Thank you and have a lovely day.

Posted by: cathy | February 06, 2008 at 08:38 AM
Good morning all,
JUST my opinion (theory)on gemstone finance.
If I purchase a gemstone for $1.00, and inflation increases 4% in that year...my gemstone is worth $1.04. If I take that same dollar and put it in a 4% interest bearing savings account (if you can find 4%int. savings) my same dollar is worth $1.04 minus my tax rate. Uncle Sam wants a portion of it...could be anywhere from say...10% to 50% incl. Social Security, State tax and Federal income tax.
The so called third world countries are becoming major economical players NOW, India, China, to name a few. They now have disposable income. This will translate into the purchases of jewelry and gemstones. Hence jewelry (gold) and gemstones (for jewelry) will increase in value” Supply and demand”.
If any of you are financial gurus. Please correct me if my ideas don't hold water. I look forward to another opinion on this matter.
Thanks

Did you try to get to it just using the reg. AOL? I tried the other way too and didn't have any luck. I know that you can get there with the free aol though..just need the disc. What's wrong with your computer..does it have vista? That's the only program that I know that had issues with AOL. We'll talk later. Happy shopping, I'm sleepy now.

Yvonne,
Am having NO LUCK finding the hookup - even signed in found the Chat Page but could not figure out where to put in the name or paste the link - This is why I quit using AOL - it just got to be a huge pain----I have the YUK Beta screens etc.... and have had nothing but trouble=== then I get frustrated and have to get out and come back to JTV and look at something pretty to mellow out!!!
I AM SO BUMMED & FEEL PRETTY DUMB (Back In the Day AOL used to be a blast - they had a chat room called the Grassy Knoll - it was alot of fun.
Posted by: Lili (Mom1) | February 06, 2008 at 04:37 AM
I've decided to put the link here for the chat room. This way if any of you on the face book site would like to come chat you'll be able to get there too. I look forward to meeting you all there.
aol://2719:2-2-JTVJunkiesNFriends
You might not need to have AOL, you might be able to sign onto your DSL page and type in AOL chat rooms and bring up the list. If you can find a place to enter that room link there for a private chat that might just get you there. Good luck! Feel free to use it anytime.

Hey Ya Susan,
Yep I knew about the heat - but I thought it was really DRY not humid --- am I in error on that thought? You would't have to twist my arm to hard for a Vegas Meet Up. I used to have relatives there. Are you going to drop Yvonne a line for the link to JTV Junkies Chat??? I did a little earlier. Not sure about that FaceBook thing - a bit HighTechish for me. I have an adult disabled daughter who can not tolerate snow mold or long wild grass mold either (it makes her kidneys shut down) So have been contimplating HOT and Dry. What Sand Things are you talking about???
Still no BIG news - Maybe tomorrow.
Posted by: Lili (Mom1) | February 06, 2008 at 03:47 AM
Rita thank you for the invite that sounds like fun too. I just deleted my face book because I was getting hit on to much. I could create another.
Posted by: Yvonne | February 06, 2008 at 03:42 AM
Is this JTV club on facebook ran by JTV? Is it JTV? For those that still want the chat room it's ready. Mom1 got her link tonight..we're waiting for the rest of you to liven up the room. I woke early and I am watching the show.
Posted by: Yvonne | February 06, 2008 at 03:37 AM
Hi Folks. Write me into any fan club (yes, I'll behave), and I gladly will accept by following the WWWWWWWs tomorrow. To my new friend, IMusic, I'll give you a red andesine just so you can fret or jump for joy with the rest of us. And as to moving to Tucson....When I was there late last August, it was 119 degrees in the SHADE and the humidity was unbearable. Waiting to be struck by lightening from the clouds surrounding us made the performers a little nervous, and Toby was drinking Scotch and sweating more than I did during "the change." So before you move there find out about the 100 foot sand things that are miles wide and are pushed that time of the year all around Arizona (we even saw one from the plane). So, visit there in late summer before you move, Really, Vegas was no more expensive than Tucson especially if you like any food that isn't steak ( served in most Tucson restaurants and lots of it). Vegas is usually full of flickering lights, but at the JCK show venues, everyone is flickering by wearing quite a few nice diamonds, gemstones and you can mingle with lovely clothed people with their diamond collared dogs. Actually, the middle of January is just about the the best time to meet in Quartzite, Arizona for a three week monster mother of all swap meets which will sell anything to anybody, and you can usually get, large gemstones, anything from bone displays to Ammolite, to dinosaur bones fossilized in so many ways. So now we have options, and time to talk about this year or next. Or just send us out coordinates and we can find each other on a given date. If this writer's strike goes on any longer here in Hollywood, they would make a reality TV show out of this trip! Do you know we are now watching over 42 reality shows a week ? Actually, I started watching JTV because they have no commercials. Now that must be a reason you all began watching too. The friendliness, the feeling of family, which we need to carry one step further, and the need to SEE the VAULT ! I hope no one on this site was hit by the weather going on tonight. Please check in tomorrow morning and let us know just how bad things got. WE are ALL a family of diverse, funny and devoted Gemstone geeks and proud if it. Have a safe night.

As of 01:15 a.m. 2/6/8 JTV is showing no Yellow Labradorite on its web site. Completely sold out or pulled off? Either way, it's gone baby, gone. The Red and Green stays under about 60 pieces.

Hey Yall,
Even back in the Stone age pretty rocks had trading value - so am not worried that my stones will never have any value even if the whole world economy goes to pot. If nothing else they give me joy!!! Was it Henry Winston that used to go around with a gemstone or two in his pocket - just because he liked the feel and loved to just look at them for their beauty. I do the something like that - I keep a few around in eyesight in their gembox an just enjoy their beauty in all the different lights of day - mid day - evening and night. Small Joys that I have in the midst of hard times an long days.

I got the room set up tonight. Hope your all enjoying your evening dreaming about the events to unfold =)
To Merelani I have taken the time to educate myself about stones. I for one can't imagine anyone not knowing about sun fading certain stones, or not doing the homework on stones they spend their good money on. I do know what stones are soft, and which are durable. That doesn't make a stone any less valuable. Gemstones are bought for fun, by most of us after we've added to our savings accounts. I never play the lotto, I love the bird in the hand thing. Unless everything in the whole world bottoms out, our gems will always maintain their value and go up in value just as gold has done. I really don't believe we are all idiots here.
::Yawning:: have a great night all..tomorrow should be more fun :)

JTV has been selling Tanzanite and Labradorite, all day, every day, for years. Even if there isn't another drop of either stone, how rare could either be? Do you really believe with the saturation in the market, your stones are suddenly going to be worth ten times what you paid? They sell Tanzanite at COSTCO.
If you really want to know the current value of a gem, pop over to E-bay and see what the market will allow. Andesine are not even selling for what JTV is selling them for. This is not to say that some stones aren't truly rare, and that some stones aren't undervalued (Zircon, Spinel, Grossular Garnets)and that you can't get good deals on JTV, but buyer beware. If they are selling something all day long, to millions around the world, it simply cannot be rare by definition.
Do gems play out? Of course they do, but that doesn't instantly make everything skyrocket in value. Also, Tanzanite and Labradorite are soft stones, they never mention this on JTV. They will never be as valuable as good sapphire, chrysoberyl (alexandrite) or tourmaline. And while were at it, they also never mention that certain stones -Kunzite, Golden Beryl, fade with exposure to daylight. They omit facts all the time.
Lastly, about two years ago, JTV was "out" of labradorite. Then suddenly they had 40 pages of it on the website. Don't be surprised to see that again.

Looking forward just like everyone to hearing the big news. I must say,I'm enjoying the blogs, kinda fun hearing different opinions here. I have a feeling, some day we'll look back on all this and have a good laugh:)

Lili, I think they are going to keep us waiting until Sunday till they reveal their big news. With little snippets each day. Mandy will probably have something tonight during her Gem Show.
With my sound muted how am I going to hear the latest little piece to the puzzle?

Wow looks like it's been an exciting day here. Lets just all try to get along okay? I don't like large I's and little U's. There's so much that we can learn from each other. Yesterday wasn't a good day for me. I had a tangle with the dentist. So if I was to offensive or out of line I am sorry. I am creating a chat room on AOL. All are welcome who want to be there. Susan you too, and llmusic even. Susan with your back ground we could probably learn some things from you too. Bring you ideals and opinions and lets all have some fun. Lets just be civil about it and leave attitudes out of it okay? BTW I have a new GPS tracker that I got for Christmas I haven't used yet. I'll figure it out by next year. We can all decide on a place to meet and rent a van and use the tracker lol..we won't get lost. Now if we can keep from killing each other =) Just send me email address's and I'll send you a room link.

You all will have to wait until the gem show is over to here about Red Labradorite....
I have a friend that lives in AZ. and she has gone(to the gem show) & their she said that at the Show they have a booth set up ( the people from the mine) and telling all about it, So you know that JTV will not give updates on this until the gem show is over..

Arthur FYI the person who writes the post is listed under the dotted line at the end of the post-you confused me with SueAnn talking about chem. compositions etc...

Lili JTV did not discover yellow Mine has been known about for at least 3-4 years.Mine as of July 2007 very active. That is when author was there. A lot of stuff on chemical composition and other feldspar minerals. Some of the pictures show red and green mixed in with yellow. Sounds like a lot left yet to be mined. BUT who knows. They are getting the yellow from a ancient lava flow that is 6-8 feet thick and several hundred yards long and full of crystals 1/8" to 3" long. Did not give width of the lava. I would have to opinionize that there is still a lot more to be mined.

Oh-Just one last thing:
Do I expect my jewelry/gems to be worth something or have value to my heirs? YES!! YES, I do expect it. I expect them to have emotional value and be worth what I paid for them, adjusted to reflect current market conditions. If gold goes up, and I think it will, gold you buy today will be worth more in the future, no doubt. BUT...
Do I think their value will increase so much they will be worth tons more than if I'd put the same money into stocks, bonds, savings, land, etc.? NO, that I don't expect. Possible, yes, anything's possible. Expected, no. Again, sorry to encourage just the sheer enjoyment of one's jewels.

I just want to see the Tucson show at least once and if I love it that much BY GOSH I will move there (It would be better than WY for my Daughters health). Anywhooo or Anywhereeee that isn;t horrid humid or horrid cold and I'm pretty much game - inside the U.S.A.
ALso - caught Jennifers NEWS Ha-Ha----- ZLady, I am pretty calm and patient - but that was just a little bit on the baiting side and she looked pretty smug (in my opinion). anyone else get that impression.

Yvonne, I am so sorry for offending you. I was so wrong!
You right: Most Americans are NOT carrying credit card debt & paying interest on that debt. You're right: Most Americans have adequate savings for emergencies & their retirement. You're right: There is not one post on these blogs that state: "I'm on a fixed income, can't afford all the lab equipment/books & rely on what the hosts say." You're right: No one has ever fallen prey to high-pressure sales & even if someone had, elderly or otherwise, that's just too bad. Should've known better. You're right: to continue to view jtv product as "investments" even when the hosts repeatedly have said NOT to do so!
I can really understand how a person's concern regarding a company's ever-increasing use of high-pressure sales tactics could upset you. I agree my concern for elderly, sometimes lonely people, who may come to believe that jtv hosts are like friends & family and spend more than they can afford, is totally misguided.
I also made the statement: "I don't see anything wrong with price shopping for say, a granddaughter's graduation present. If she wants a emerald ring and jtv has the best price for the same quality, by all means buy it from jtv."
I did not intend to make ANYONE "feel like a moron" for buying things they enjoy with their excess funds. Nor did I intend to slight anyone who collects gems/jewelry as a HOBBY. I also enjoy learning about gemology & have jewelry/stones. If you meet the few criteria in my humble opinion that are reasonable & don't buy into the hype, obviously, my comments weren't directed towards you. But you were right, again, I have no right to express my opinion here.
My only concern was that I read too many posts here who seem to think that they were purchasing a stone (randomly from a parcel of who knows how many stones)that was somehow going to make them or their heirs rich. Sorry to advise caution. Sorry to try to remind people to just enjoy whatever, but don't think you're getting something for nothing. Sorry to try to remind folks that you get what you pay for. Sorry I offended so many of you for these statments. I now know that apparently this blog is not the place for my humble opinion, just somehow for yours, so I'll keep my stupid thoughts to myself henceforth.
PS-How much Andesine did I buy? Zero. But my concerns weren't "personal".

Hey Folks..I just went to Tucson for a Toby Keith concert. My best to the people who can find all 50 or so shopping areas. I couldn't even get directions to the hotel or concert! I went to keep a "Toby Warrior" company. And, to say the least, it is not my city of choice. Actually, the Las Vegas gem, etc. show would be a great place for a JTV reunion! Have fun, because I have this strange feeling that I won't be invited. Again, we ARE a family, like it or not, and should respect the hosts who brought us all together (like them or not), and appreciate how much is done for us by JTV. OK, start yelling at me, my job isn't on the line when you do.

Okay.. Ladies.. I'm getting the feeling that most of us are about the same age, and many can't sleep at night. A chat room would be great for all. If you couldn't sleep you could watch jtv and chat together. Creating the room is no problem it only takes 5 mins for me. You just need dsl and AOL and a screen name to send to me so that I can invite you. I'll need to send you the link. The screen name to send them too again is Vonniebooboo@aol.com BTW I'm 56. Laurie thank you for the email today. Feel better Gal. Have a great day all, I'm pretty sure that we aren't going to learn anything new until after the show. So, here's to hoping it's really good.

I just listened to O'Sullivan say "we have 3 teams around the world looking for andesine." They have continually told us "It's a one source gem." I have purchased thousand of dollars of gems and 2 rings totalling 10 gem stones. I once again checked a tanzanite I purchased 2 years ago for $1846.00 from Cheryl's show. We were told by her "this is it folks, these are from a vendor. If they don't sell, they're going back...." It came in a black box. I thought at that time this JTV was on the up and up. In the Bahamas I purposely went into a jewelry store at the Atlantis last year. They have a 18K 4.40 tanz w/diamonds for $4200.00US. That's when I realized the wool had been pulled over me. Sharon who is a moron says on EVERY show "If this doesn't sell, I'm buying it." I LOL. Tamara has to be her stupid side kick and say "oh yes, Sharon. MAGNIFICENT. I will say this, I DON'T BUY ANYTING FROM THEM. I DO TUNE IN AT TIMES TO LAUGH MY ASS OFF. AND....there are sites you can get on not being a jeweler that show you the fine grade rutilated quartz that make JTV's trinkets from a 25 cent machine.

see February issue of Rock and Gem magazine Excellent article on Yellow Labradorite
Posted by: arthur | February 05, 2008 at 11:01 AM
Hi everybody,
Please take a look at Jacks memo. He refers to red, green and yellow as labradorite. Not andesine/labradorite?
Posted by: cathy | February 05, 2008 at 07:57 AM
Well I will be glad when the news comes out. I missed the usually scheduled 8:00 pm gem show they have yesterday. I have the times I watch memorized because I am usually too busy to get on the computer to check out the schedules on a daily basis. I am on the other hand worried a bit too. After all, I purchased from auction an 8ct bicolor yellow/green labradorite a year or so ago before they were even posting the Mexican yellow, so I am pretty sure it is from the same location as the green. Anyway, it was the only one folks weren't bidding sky high at the time because yellow wasn't considered interesting. I think it is very beautiful and wonderfully unique. I would hate to think they found more locations and gems so that there are more chances for bicolor andesine-labradorite and mine won't be quite so unique anymore:)

Ok I one more post..LOL I wish you could edit your post. I taped what Jennifer said and listened to it again.
She said great news he has found the mine. And soon we well share the information with you. Yesterday we identified the Congo as a possible source. But could it be China? We now have conclusive information on the source of Andesine Labradrite plus exciting news about its color. And in just a few days you will know too. Stay tune everyday as we unravel the hunt for the mines.
****
I think part of the big announcement may be they have found a new color. Maybe pink or purple. But its going to have something to do with the color.
Also Jennifer corrected herself when she called the Yellow Andesine. She called it Yellow Lab.
Good nite!! LOL
Posted by: ZLady | February 05, 2008 at 05:46 AM
She just said the announcement is coming up this week.
Now she is reading the Hunter Jack memo again. It is updated. They now know the source of the stone and the color.
We still have to wait for the big announcement later in the week.
Shes not selling any new gems, shes selling what is in exiting inventory.
Posted by: ZLady | February 05, 2008 at 05:11 AM
Jennifer is getting ready to break some news I think. Or she already said it and I missed it. Shes getting ready to sell some Red, Green and Yellow Adesine Stones she just said. She included the Yellow in the Adesine.

Hey There Again ZLady
and all other night owls. Boy can I relate to the night sleep issues. I heard Jennifer say about 1 hr.30 min. ago that she was going to let some info. OUT OF THE BAG here shortly. I hope you see this soon enough to be watching and that she really says something good. How do you feel about a JTV Junkies Chat Club like yvonne and Cathy are talking about in earlier posts? I hope it happens. JTV has been my late nite companion for many years now. I even put headphones on at night to hear the show and block out other noise as I TRY to SLEEP. Catch Ya ALL tomorrow. Hope I wake up to being RICH with AndeLabs. If not = I sure have some BEAUTIFUL stones. Nite All

Thanks Lili for all the info on JTV's history. I got to watch it for 3 months towards the end of 2007 while I was staying with friends. They still had lots of big Tanzanites then. After I got use to the turn tables I like them. Or at least the way they do th
