January 13 & 14 Sunday & Monday-- I think it is awesome that we have a Brand New Artist on Jewel School this weekend, for the NEW Year! Internationally known polymer clay artist, Christi Friesen is joining our Guest Artist Team! And she is bringing a LOT of cool new things to play with, such as: two sets of her "How-To" books and a Polymer Clay Basics Kit (that includes everything you need to begin with polymer: tools, clay, instructions and projects).
When I asked Christi to explain what Swellegant! is, she excitedly replied, " This is a product line that I've produced consisting of metal coatings, patinas, dyes and a sealer. It's intended to make anything metal by coating it with a highest-quality, artist-grade metal coating. Then the coating can be aged naturally with patinas and colored with special metal dyes. It's really exciting! I work in polymer, so it allows me to create with the ease and economy of polymer, and then make it appear as if the piece is solid metal--at a fraction of the cost and effort. Soooo exciting! I'll be offering kits for Brass, Bronze, Copper and Silver metal coatings!"
Christi is also bringing two New, special "Jumbo" Kits named, "Atlantis" and "Celtic Knots". Besides including polymer clays and tools, each kit has a selection of Swellegant! and a special silicon mold, Designed Just for Jewel School, giving one the possibility of making a huge variety of projects!
Also on Sunday/Monday (Jan 13/14)-- not only bringing her Wubbers, artist and inventor Patti Bullard will be joining her friend Christi and our Jewel School host, with EnCapture Artisan Concrete TM, a new texture-rich medium that she has formulated, especially for jewelry makers!
While talking with Patti about her new venture, she was practically bouncing along with Christi, saying, " I will be introducing a kit that includes the essentials for getting started with this versatile, exciting media. I love the contrast that this media provides when it is used to set polished stones, opals, metal, glass, or any number of other 'embeddables.' It can be carved, drilled, burnished, painted, dyed, waxed, molded, sculpted, and so much more! I am really excited about the new design options, not to mention the fun that this medium provides!"
January 16-- Beads, Beads, Beads!! How did Jewel School begin? With beads, beads and more beads of course!! Getting back to our roots this winter, you can look forward to seeing several Wednesday shows featuring some of the prettiest bead selections ever!!
"Cougarism"-- Happy NEW Year!!
Yes, I had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday season with my family and close friends--I hope you did too! As the holidays are basically over, the next season will be "Cabin Fever"! What better time to involve yourself in something new? I am very excited about the product lines that Christi and Patti are bringing to us this weekend and I loved Christi's exclamation, " All of the goodies I'm bringing along are great for ANY skill level! From 'what's all this then?' to 'go ahead, try to impress me'. I'm really excited to show off all the fun stuff!" (That's what I need right about now - something new and fun to play with!)
I have been very busy working with a fabulous group of International Instructors, while setting up the 2013 Jewel School Institute calendar of classes, progressive workshops and special events. We should be releasing most of it later this next week - I hope you find your "something new" this year!!
