At JTV, we are always on the lookout for exciting new products to bring our customers. Whether it is a new gemstone discovery or a new technology, we strive to keep you up to date on the latest and greatest. That being said, we would like you to welcome the newest addition to our extensive gemstone selection: Galinieri Ethiopian Opal™. It may seem like a mouthful, but these beautiful gems are unlike anything ever seen on the market before!
These stones begin as normal white Ethiopian opal with play-of-color. Ethiopian opal has been considered one of the most important gemstone finds of the 21st century. Because it is currently mined in large quantities, its cost is significantly lower than famed Australian opals, not only making it a popular stone for our customers, but also for experimental gemstone treatment experts.
The key to this treatment is that opal is porous. This makes it possible to impregnate the white body of the opal with stunning color! You are already familiar with our Chalama Black Opal™—Chalama opals are smoked to create a black body, while Galinieri Ethiopian Opal™ receives a bright blue dye that sets it apart from anything we have ever offered!
Blue is the favorite color of more than half the population, but before now, if you wanted a blue opal, you had to sacrifice play-of-color. With JTV's new Galinieri Ethiopian Opal™, you can have it all!
Whether you are a seasoned collector or new to the world of gemstones, opal is one gem that many consider essential for their collections. Perhaps you have an opal or two in your collection, maybe from the most prestigious locations. Australia's Coober Pedy and Lightning Ridge mines, Mexico's spicy fire opals, pastel Peruvian blues and pinks or Brazil's crop of Colheita Fire Opal™. Now is the time to build your collection of colorful Ethiopian stunners!
But back to the name... Galinieri Ethiopian Opal™. With our new collection of colored Ethiopian Opals, we wanted to celebrate the abundant natural beauty of Ethiopia. These stones are named after a blue songbird easily spotted flying around the highlands of Ethiopia. This blue crooner's reputation for soothing song makes it the perfect namesake for our dyed blue opal, sure to leave you singing its praises. Just as its namesake is easily noticed as it chirps its sweet melody, Galinieri Ethiopian Opal™ will stand out in your gemstone collection as a unique blue gemstone unlike anything else you own.
